I wish to address to you both as the president of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Srpska and as a businessman. Here fore, I dare expect your support as well as cooperation in creating and improving the activities of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, which truly advocates commercial interests under the newly established and altered conditions.
Admittedly, our basic task within the reform is to make our economy more efficient, which will consequently provide us with new working places, a better life standard and the overall prosperity here in the Republic of Srpska. It is in our best interest that the process of economic reforms will be continued as successfully as it has been so far. The reforms were initiated by the processes of privatisation, restructure of enterprises, stimulation of enterprise development, and creation of a good business environment, and now we have to create favourable conditions to improve production and export, which could alleviate the long-time misbalance in foreign trade exchange.
Hence, our positions and demands towards the creators of economic policy and business environment have to reflect our true interests, which are to be adequately defined, represented and worked on with the help of businessmen i.e. you.
Our recent cooperation, either through the work of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry sections or direct contacts, has given certain results in all our fields of action both on daily and long-time basis.
Being a commercial service and a governmental partner, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry must generate the economic reforms, administer the economic diplomacy and be a leading institution when it comes to promoting the economy of the Republic of Srpska on the world economic market.
In our joint mission to bring economic prosperity to the Republic of Srpska, we have the task:
- To represent the economic interests before the legislative and executive organs of authority;
- To establish and improve business connections and represent the economy of the Republic of Srpska in the country and abroad, and provide our members with adequate services.
It is the long-term task of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry to help its members meet new markets, exchange their experiences, make new business contacts and create partnerships by taking part in international fairs, business missions and other activities of promotion all through the international chamber network and the economic diplomacy.
This year, one of the priority tasks of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Srpska is to be among the first chambers in the region to complete the project of making the electronic business register, which could provide us with the faster information exchange, become a sort of a shop window of our business potentials, speed up the goods export and therefore become the key of the economic development in the Republic of Srpska.
We have undertaken a number of activities to restructure our institution in compliance with our members’ desires, but there are still other changes necessary to be made for which we need your help and cooperation.
We would like you to keenly participate in the work of the bodies of the Chamber – its Assembly, Steering board, Branch Associations, System boards, and other bodies and help us define the business association that we all hope for; the association which will enable us to meet the goals we have set , the best way possible. Thus, we expect your taking part in this joint task, which is of a crucial importance for the economy in the Republic of Srpska.
Apart from intensifying the activities to achieve our former goals, it is necessary to resolve some other issues, which are to improve the business conditions. These other issues are:
- Balance the public spending and business results,
- Make the work of the state administration bodies efficient in order to improve the business conditions,
- Make the work of the judicial bodies more efficient in order to speed up the solving of business litigations,
- Alter the whole range of legal solutions which hamper the economic development,
- Stimulate the education of personnel, which is necessary for the economy.
In order to accomplish all this, we need highly qualified people, financial support, and active participation of all the members of the Chamber of Commerce.
Your most obliged,
President of the Chamber of Commerce of Republika Srpska
Borko Đurić MA
